Sunnyside Rest Home

Admission to Sunnyside Sunnyside Rest Home is available for any local person who wishes to apply for admission. Always assuming, of course, that there is a vacancy. For more information please contact Manager Mrs Wendy Howarth - sunnyside1@live.co.uk

Prospective residents who are prepared to pay their own fees, or whose family are prepared to pay the fees in full, can be admitted at any time.

In deciding upon the suitability of the prospective resident, the Sunnyside staff will take the following points into consideration:-

a) The level of mobility, as there are two members of staff on night duty. (With others available on call)
b) Incontinence, as there is no sluice. If incontinence develops after admittance, the resident or his/her family must provide inco pads.

Anyone who is unable to pay for their own fees must apply to the Lancashire County Council Social Services for financial assistance. This does not prevent you from entering the Home of your choice. You have the right to choose where you, or your relatives, take up residence. Admission into care at Sunnyside, for residents who wish the Social Services to pay or make a contribution to their fees, must be with the agreement of the local officer of the Social Services department who will make the final decision upon:-

a) Whether the prospective resident is suitable for the Rest Home or requires a Nursing Home.
b) The level of funding provided by the Social Services.

There are two levels. High and Low Rate. Attendance Allowance can be applied for. Any resident not eligible for Income Support will have to make up the difference between the Social Services funding and the level of fees currently agreed by the Trust. Any assistance or advice that you require in making this decision, or any other information that you may require will be readily provided by the staff at Sunnyside.

Facilities:

The building comprises a single storey, so that there is no need for lifts, and the access offers no restriction for wheelchairs.
All bedrooms are provided with washing facilities and there are two bathrooms where residents can bath in private or under the supervision of our staff.
The nearest shops are approximately two hundred yards and the local bus stop is adjacent to the Day Centre.
The local GP, dentist and chiropodist all visit the Home regularly.
There are also regular prayer meetings and religious services for those who wish to take part. A hairdresser visits the Home each week.
The Medical Centre is situated a quarter of a mile away, but the staff will collect any prescriptions or other requirements as necessary. The Trust also owns the adjacent Day Care Centre and any resident who wishes to do so is free to spend the day there and take part in the activities and outings which are organised by the Day Care Centre staff.
