Welcome
In 1976, a group of people had a vision of creating a centre, in Whitworth whose sole purpose was to care for local people on a day-to-day basis, who were experiencing problems of looking after themselves. As a result of which, Whitworth Elderly and Disabled Care Trust opened the doors of Sunnybank Day Care Centre.
Building on the success of the Day Care Centre, in 1986 the Trust opened Sunnyside Rest Home and by using a policy of recruiting well-trained staff from the local area, it has become home from home for the residents who live there.
In 1993, the Trust became a charity, registering with the Commission for Social Care Inspection (Registered Charity No. 1033520) and in 2007; successfully attained preferred status in ‘Investors in People Awards.’
The Trust consistently works alongside staff to develop both Sunnybank and Sunnyside so that they continue to progress towards becoming the best in the County. We are always open to new ideas to take us forward and if you feel, you could share your time as a Trustee or as ‘friends of Sunnyside and Sunnybank please call in and speak to our centre managers at any time or contact us by phone, email or letter.
